Makoto Kitazume, also known as Ray Thompson in Italy and France, is the coach of Toho Academy, where he trained Kojiro Hyuga. They had a difficult relationship, that went as far as the coach not using his best player during the Middle School National Tournament until the final match, and only after every single player in the team begged him to do so.
