Known in occident as Mark Lenders (or Steve Hyuga in some countries), Kojiro Hyuga is a great striker and one of the main characters of the series. He is the recurring rival of Tsubasa during the first part of the series, but eventually becomes friendly towards him and play together for Japan.
Hyuga is a very strong player that uses his physique to overpower his opposition, but also develops many techniques during his career, such as post play or dribbling. However, he is mainly a finisher, with an amazing scoring record, and the best striker in Japan.
Kojiro Hyuga goes overseas to play in Italy and become a better player. He signs for Juventus, but after a difficult few weeks and huge competition for the starting forward role, he is loaned to Reggiana in Serie C. It is in this league where he fights Shingo Aoi for a top two spot and a ticket to Serie B.
