Genzo Wakabayashi is an incredible goalkeeper that is able to play professionaly in Europe (for Hamburg in Germany) being only a teenager. He is known in occident as Benji Price (or Tom Price in France). Captain Tsubasa’s anime was named “Oliver y Benji” in many spanish-speaking countries (“Olive et Tom” in France), which led to many viewers to think that he was one of the two main characters. This is not the case, since he has more of a supporting role in the series, being away from the team multiple times for diverse reasons (injury, living abroad, etc.).
However, Wakabayashi is probably the best goalie in the series, being nicknamed “SGGK” (Super Great Goal Keeper). He is a little overconfident and cocky, but cares about his teammates and does not hesitate in risking his own integrity for the good of his team. As a result, he gets injured multiple times, giving opportunities to his backup goalkeepers (mainly fellow japanese internationals Ken Wakashimazu and Yuzo Morisaki).
