Japan Youth vs Mexico Youth

Japan vs Mexico was the inaugural match of the World Youth Tournament in Captain Tsubasa. The host team (Japan) faced Mexico in the National Stadium (Tokyo) for the first game of the group A.

Garcia was sent off in the second half after a terrible play that injured both Tachibana twins (Kazuo and Masao). Mexico’s goalkeeper, Ricardo Espadas, scored the first goal of the match in the 80th minute. Japan managed to reverse the score in overtime, with goals by Shingo Aoi and Kojiro Hyuga (assisted by Tsubasa Ozora).

Toho HS vs Nankatsu HS

Toho vs Nankatsu was the final of the High School National Tournament in Captain Tsubasa.

Kojiro Hyuga scored the winning goal in extra time after the match finished 1-1, with his famous Tiger shot.

Japan Youth vs Holland Youth

This was the third Japan vs Holland (Netherlands) friendly matches that took place before the World Youth Tournament and its Asian Qualifiers Tournament. These matches were published in 1993 in the one shot called “Captain Tsubasa World Youth Special: The strongest opponent! Netherlands Youth”.

After two hard loses, Japan was reinforced by its captain Tsubasa for the third and final match of the series. After a 1-1 draw during the first half, Japan destroyed Netherlands in the second scoring nine goals for a final score of 10-1. Kojiro Hyuga scored a hat-trick, while the following players scored a goal using their trademark shots: Makoto Soda, Hikaru Matsuyama, Shun Nitta, Kazuki Sorimachi, Tsubasa Ozora, Taro Misaki, Kazuo Tachibana and Masao Tachibana. The Tachibana brothers scored with a twin shot.

Ruud Klisman scored the only goal for Holland, acting as team captain in the abscense of regular captain Brian Kluivoort.

Japan vs Gremio

Japan vs Gremio was a friendly game in Captain Tsubasa. Tsubasa Ozora made his debut for Japan (senior team) with just 15 years of age. He entered the pitch at the beggining of the second half, when the score was 0-3 for Gremio. He managed to score a hat-trick and the game ended 3-3.
