Japan vs Uzbekistan was the first game for Japan in the second stage of the Asian Qualifiers for the World Youth Tournament in Captain Tsubasa.
Shingo Aoi scored the first goal in the 7th minute, assisted by Kojiro Hyuga, who scored the 2-0 in the 15th minute heading a pass from Makoto Soda. Shun Nitta scored the 3-0 in the 30th minute assisted by Taro Misaki.
After it was clear that Japan was going to win, a recovering Genzo Wakabayashi was replaced by Yuzo Morisaki. Hyuga completed a hat-trick and Japan ended up winning 8-1.
