Recap
This Shutetsu vs Nankatsu match was part of the Nankatsu Tournament, where both elementary schools faced each other in different sports. It started in the 5th chapter of the first Captain Tsubasa series, in the “Kid’s Dream” storyline arc.
Teppei Kisugi scored the first goal of the match in the second half, assisted by Mamoru Izawa. Right before the final whistle, Tsubasa Ozora tied the game and it went to extra time. Taro Misaki, who had just enrolled in Nankatsu Elementary School, replaced the injured Ryo Ishizaki (Nankatsu’s captain) for the 10 minute overtime.
Shutetsu’s goalkeeper and captain Genzo Wakabayashi scored the 2-1 in the first minute of the second extra time period, assisted by Hajime Taki. With only two minutes remaining, Tsubasa scored again, this time assisted by Misaki. The final score was 2-2, and both teams were declared winners.
